British Airways: common questions

Does British Airways charge for checked bags?

On most economy fares the first checked bag costs about $75 each way (more at the airport). Economy Standard, Economy Plus and World Traveller Plus fares include at least one bag. We show the bag allowance for every fare before you book.

Can I bring a carry-on on British Airways's cheapest fare?

Yes. British Airways's Economy Basic fare includes a personal item and a full-size carry-on bag, but seat selection costs extra and the fare cannot be changed.

Can I change or cancel a British Airways ticket?

Every booking on Air1 Tickets can be cancelled free within 24 hours (for flights 7+ days out). After that, Economy Basic fares cannot be changed, while Economy Plus fares allow changes with no change fee (you pay any fare difference). Refundable fares return the full amount.

How do I check in for a British Airways flight?

Check in online or in the British Airways app from 24 hours before departure using the airline confirmation code on your Air1 Tickets e-ticket. Your Air1 reference is for managing the booking with us; the airline code (six characters) is what British Airways needs.

Fare rules and fees are set by British Airways and change; the details shown when you search are authoritative for your booking. British Airways is a trademark of its owner.
